Carol announces congressional run in Huntington's Ritter Park July 20, 2017 "West Virginia House of Delegates Majority Whip Carol Miller announced her candidacy for U.S. Congress during a news conference Thursday morning in front of the Memorial Arch in Huntington's Ritter Park." Miller, a Republican from Cabell County, will seek to represent West Virginia’s 3rd congressional district, the seat being vacated by current Rep. Evan Jenkins, as he seeks the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate.
Lincoln Journal gives Carol a Thumbs Up for her commitment to the people of Lincoln County
"Miller has regularly visited the county, maintained excellent relationships with local leaders, and kept citizens abreast of developments under the dome in Charleston."
"Majority Whip Carol Miller (R-Cabell), one of Lincoln County's five House delegates in Charleston, for getting into the race to succeed U.S. Rep. Evan Jenkins (R-WV3) in the House of Representatives in Washington, D.C. Miller represents the eastern portion of Cabell County and two Lincoln County precincts (Precinct 14 (Hamlin and surrounds), and Precinct 16 (portions of West Hamlin). We've regularly endorsed Miller on this page in primary and general elections down through the years. She joins what looks set to be a crowded Republican field next May. Miller has been loyal to her Lincoln County constituents, despite the lopsided nature of her House district. The two Hamlin precincts in House District 16 seem like an afterthought at times, the poor relation, and the result of successive gerrymandering efforts each decade. Nonetheless, Miller has regularly visited the county, maintained excellent relationships with local leaders, and kept citizens abreast of developments under the dome in Charleston. We're revisiting the congressional contest later this year, and of course, next year. For now, however, we're glad to see a friend of Lincoln County having a tilt at representing the sprawling Third Congressional District." -Lincoln Journal
